X-TYPE wont go into gear (manual)
Hi,
I have a problem with my 2002 x-type base 2.5 manual trans.
the transmission will not shift into first gear or reverse while running and is difficult to shift while moving.
The clutch did fail and was towed to a local shop. I was able to purchase a complete Luk set set including a new DMF.
The clutch was replaced with and new master cylinder......still has the same issue.
The system has been bled several times , the transmission shifts smothly through all gears when engine is off so I dont suspect a shift fork issue.
I am at a loss ... any advice would be appreciated

Most likely the clutch isn't fully disengaging when the pedal is depressed. I assume you changed the entire clutch assembly (pressure plate, disc, throw-out bearing, slave cylinder). If so, it could possibly be a warped flywheel which is dragging on the clutch disc (and therefore the transmission main shaft) even when the pedal is depressed. I would also check to see if there are any rubber sections in the line between the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. The hose might be soft and "ballooning" under pressure leading to an incomplete disengagement of the clutch.
