X400 2005 replacing body parts //do 2001 model parts fit? bonnet, trunk, windshields
Hello there,
my 2005 x400 that I had in pristine condition was vandalized and I am to replace a lot of body parts. Bonnet, trunk, roof (tricky), mirrors, front and rear windshield, all windows. Of course I am going for used parts, although suppliers are rare (in Greece). Most cars here for parts are older dated 2001. I can tell from slight differences I notice ie the button for the trunk and of course the interior which is the biggest difference. Could anyone tell me if the older parts that I need (above) could fit to my car? Has anyone done that.

Bad luck on your car being trashed Alex, you have our sympathies.
Is the damage not covered under your insurance policy?
As far as I am aware the X Type was face lifted in 2007 so in theory most parts should be interchangeable.
Others will chime in I am sure.

All body parts (with with the exception of the chrome plinth on the trunk panel) are interchangeable on all x-Types up until the "facelift" model, and even the latest cars have most body parts that will interchange (with the exception of front and rear bumpers and grille).
Many electrical and some mechanical parts are a different matter.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Maybe it will be easier than I thought in the end. The chrome part with the button of my trunk was undamaged, maybe it is possible to bring that mechanism and place it over the "new" trunk.
I have found many offers for models from 2001 to 2004, not a single for 2005-
