2017 XE 35T Prestige
Locat dealership has 17XE for sale with only 24k miles on it. They are asking $21.9k for the car ( i think it should be more in the range of $19k) but could be wrong. My question is on the reliability and potential issues with this year, they also have a 2018 25T with higher miles. Thanks Kent
In a way, the lower mileage might be a disadvantage. The '17 SCV6's still had the old style crossover pipes. They have a seem down the side, which fails. The new style looks like proper pipes. Pop the hood and lift the SC cover. The pipes right in front on top. WP failures and rear heater manifold pipes are a common service as well. These motors will catastrophically fail if overheated so you need to mind the coolant level with frequent looks under the hood. The service is to replace the WP, crossover pipes and thermostat plus various other pipes, gaskets and seals. Not a cheap repair as the SC has to come off. I made sure all of my V6's have had the service prior to my purchasing them. In two cases it was the reason for the car getting traded in.
Overall, we are enjoying our XE. Almost as much fun to drive as a 3 series but better looking and way better interior.

I do not buy 4 cylinder turbo motors from any manufacturer as a matter of policy. No replacement for displacement.
Looking at CarGurus available vehicles in your area, the 2017 F Pace S First Edition would be my first choice. Same money for a lot better car with way more content.

I have a 2019 XE 25t Premium AWD. I got it two years ago for $24k and it had 26k miles. I absolutely love the car. I have 41k miles on it now and I have not had any problems with it. It runs and handles great. I am not an SUV guy, so the AWD sedan works out perfectly for me. It looks great and gets 31 mpg too. I drive a good deal on the highway but am also stuck in traffic heading in and out of NYC not infrequently. I cannot speak on the 2017 but to me the price doesn't seem too bad for what you are getting.

How’s the back seat room on the 19? The 2017 is almost non existent but i have also been looking at 19”s. We generally only haul the dog around in the back (with seat covers). But on occasion we will have another couple with us. Thanks

I would tend to agree with you - I've enjoyed driving my Dodge Charger with its 5.7L V8 Hemi!
However, unfortunately, in the UK at least, if you reject buying 4 cylinder engined cars, with or without turbos, your car buying choice becomes VERY restricted indeed. In fact a lot of car manufactuers are now offerering THREE cylinder turbo motors, and some of these have the self-destructing timing belt (not chain) running in engine oil arrangement. It's all in the chase to meet government imposed emissions and fuel consumption limits.

I actually never sat in the back and never thought to look back there since I have never had anyone in the back seats. I just had a look and sat back there. I fit comfortably back there and had plenty of leg space but if your passengers are much taller than 6' 0", then the leg room might be compromised a bit. For comparison, I just sat in the back of one of my S Types and it is pretty similar to that car.
I think the V6 is a more engaging car and the gas milage isn't terrible. Regarding the crossover coolant pipes. I changed mine at 65k miles. I think it is something I would budget for but it shouldn't need to be done day 1. Regardless, it is a BEAUTIFUL car. Good luck with your choosing!!!!
