2018 XE S - what to look for?
Hi,
I’m a longtime Jaguar XJ owner, but I’m now considering buying a 2018 XE S with 85,000 miles. I’m experienced with the XJ and handle all the repairs myself, but the XE will be for my daughter, who lives 9 hours away and can't manage repairs herself. Since she’s away at school for another two years and may move back closer after that, I need to ensure the car is reliable.
I haven’t yet inspected the XE, but the ad states that the interior is like new, the exterior is in very good condition, and there are no mechanical issues. I plan to check out the car in the next day or two, and I have a few questions:

- What are the common problem areas I should be aware of?
- Is there any specific maintenance that should have been performed on an XE with 85,000 miles?
- Any comments or feedback about this model would be appreciated.
Overall, we are very happy with our ‘17 XE 35t. Obvious concerns are the cooling pipes and water pump. We bought our XE right after the PO had the front crossover pipes fail and a local independent took the car on trade and then did the repairs. 1 year later and we had the rear manifold pipe fail which I took to the dealer for repair. These were expected and therefore no big deal. The only unexpected repair I’ve made was to reseal the drivers door intrusion beam to the outer door skin. Closing the drivers door resulted in an unsatisfying chunk-a-clunk. Squeezing a line of butyl into the gap solved the noise.

and they now make aluminum aftermarket replacement parts which I recommend as my 2012 XKR had Jaguar Factory metallic pipes and I'm on 120k without an issue. Having my supercharger changed and we will be investigating how they are doing today.
