Any advice on First time oil change?
Any advice on first time oil change. 2017, XE three.0 all wheel drive. Do I need any special tool to remove the cover to get access to the drain plug? And I'm assuming it takes 7.7 quarts or is it 6 quarts with a filter 0–20 oil oil. Change oil and filter every 4000 miles? I know these questions are very basic but I'm just want to cover my bases. Thanks for any help

4000 mile intervals for oil changes ? Here in the UK we gave up that sort of frequency in the 70s ! Of course much depends on use pattern, but I'd say 5000 minimum, and 10000 maximum. However, much also depends on whether diesel or petrol engine. My XE is a diesel and seems OK at around 10k miles between oil changes. Of course people will now come on and say I'm not changing oil and filter often enough. Maybe there are people out there who change it every month !
Of course if you're doing track days and other high performance stuff, maybe 4000 miles is right !

I'm guessing you have the 3.0 litre V6 supercharged (AJ126).
That engine, with AWD, takes 6.2 quarts of oil, less than the RWD because the AWD sump is smaller/shallower to allow room for the AWD gubbins.
Forget the sump plug drain method, waaaaay easier to pump the oil out from the top using an extraction pump such as a Mityvac. There is an oil extraction tube in the middle of the oil fill hole, take the oil cap off and you can't miss it.
The specified oil change interval is every 16,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first but many (myself included) believe this is way too long for this engine and the oil should be changed twice as often or around every 8,000 miles, but 4,000 miles is overkill for a modern 0W20 oil.
