DIY oil change for 2017 Xe 25t
Hi everyone. I was planning to change the oil and oil filter for my 2017 Xe 25t. I checked under the car and can't see where the drain plug or oil filter are. There is a protective cover down there and I am not sure if that needs to be removed to access the drain plug and oil filter, or if the oil needs to be suctioned out? I didn't see much information online about DIY oil change for the Xe.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hi floridagator,
Seems you have Ecoboost engine also. Refer with this link How To Change Your Oil ~ Engine Oil Explained
I'm not sure there is exacly your engine, but generic idea "oil filter placement and drain plug placement" should be clear.

I changed the oil in our 2018 XE 25t a few weeks ago for the first time. Other than a staggering number of bolts securing the underbody panel it was a straightforward oil change no different than any other modern vehicle with a top mount filter canister.
Where is the oil filter in the picture?

Agree. Makes life a lot easier. One of my all time favorite finds was the built in funnel under the oil filter on my '04 Ford Ranger. It caught the oil as you unscrewed the filter from the side of the engine and dropped it straight down into my drain pan without any mess.
I do not see an oil filter housing in the posted pic.

The first response in this thread says:
"Oil filter is at the top under the engine cover. Oil is sucked out from the top."
But by reading other posts, it sounds like there is an oil plug and filter underneath the engine that can be accessed by removing a panel? Is that correct?
