Guys, I hope you can help.. I disconnected my battery, my ever helpful son came in and on his way past closed the boot lid..

now I can’t open the boot again to reconnect the battery, any ideas, how I can do that manually ??

Have you tried to feed in power using the "jump-start" connectors under the bonnet e.g. with a battery charger in order to get some juice to the boot lock? I have not tried that when the main battery has been totally "decoupled" from the circuit, so not sure whether that would help.
BTW; I think leaving out the physical emergency key for trunk in a car that has battery in the boot is not the most viable design. My XF has that physical "emergency" lock that can be opened with a key and it has been handy at times....

Best, Mika

Can you pop the rear seat down from the inside and go in through that way?

There is a physical key buried inside the remote which can be used to unlock the front doors, which would allow you entry to the rear seats. If your car has folding rear seats, there should be a button on the center seatback which will allow you to fold it down like an armrest, which may allow you to pull the two cords near the roof of the boot which cause the right and left side seats to fold down, thus allowing entry to the boot.

Once you are in the boot (hopefully with a flashlight) there may be a way to open the boot lid from the inside.

This is one reason there’s a jump terminal in front. Hook up a battery or charger to that, and open the trunk. Same issue on the F-type.
