Default Diagnostic Problems after Update

Hi all,

I've got a 2018 XE 2.0L petrol (300bhp) AWD model. I've been experiencing big problems with Engine/Gearbox lag and poor performance.
Jaguar had the car in last week for a service and updated software on the Engine, ABS, Gearbox and several other systems to try and fix the fault.
There is still a noticeable lag but the performance is much improved.

Since the software update, my EOBD diagnostic tool will not work on the car anymore (it worked fine before and read a previous fault code).
A mechanic friend of mine has just tried his Garage-level system on the car and it will not talk to any of the systems which have just been updated - systems not updated communicate fine. Again, this Garage-level tool worked fine on the car in May when I had an engine fault crop-up during lockdown.

Could there be a problem with the updates applied? I thought EOBD/OBD-II had to be allowed.
Is there an option Jaguar have changed with the update which needs changing back to enable diagnostic reading?
I always keep diagnostic kit for my cars and am worried that Jaguar have just locked me out of talking to this car.

Any ideas? Thanks
