Default How Do You Play (Your Own) Music on Your XE?

Just purchased an XE S(35t) - first car I've owned without a CD player - and wonder how you folks play your own music. I downloaded a bunch of albums to my (Samsung) phone intending to play them via Bluetooth, but can't figure out how to listen to more that one song without having to pull the phone out and pick the next track manually. Thoughts?

I connect my iPhone via Bluetooth, and am able to listen to the approximately 1000+ songs in the phone's storage non-stop with iTunes set on "shuffle." So it is possible, although I cannot say what would be necessary on Android phones.

Good idea. I'll give it the shuffle idea a go and/or see if I can download iTunes to an android phone.

USB is the easiest for me, because I tend to only want to listen to 20 or so songs at any given time.

Thanks Peter, I did find the USB port in the centre console cubby; I'll give it a try.

ps. As you'll see my F-Type dream is still a dream....recent divorce/cheating ex....I needed four doors to carry the little one. On the positive side, for the time being, I'm now the majority owner of two Jaguars (she purchased an F-Pace S) and my other two sets of wheels....such is life

I was wondering how you got on! Sorry to hear about the missus...better luck next time.

I love the XE S, they are phenomenal on the track and the street. I tend to think they handle better than the F Type to be honest. Just dial up the side bolsters to hold you in when you hit the roundabouts and you'll be fine - assuming you arent put into lockdown...

I have been able to use all songs I've downloaded on Spotify and Amazon music via Bluetooth. Maybe worth a subscription to something like this or similar?

Loving it so far, but but due to the lockdown I've had limited chances to drive beyond the local supermarket. Handles very, very well, has (almost) enough grunt, is very practical and loads more fun than the ex's F-Pace S (diesel), which is fairly disappointing. I think it just needs a little more 'theatre' which I'll get to, probably via VAP, post lockdown (and after I sell my SQ5 and Boxster).

Yes, that does seem to work well enough.

That's what I'm aiming for. I'm a heavy Spotify user, but yet to figure out how to download to my phone (not that I've devoted much time to trying in fairness).

With Spotify if you are playing on your phone do the controls on your car stereo work? I'm enjoying "the Lazys" at the moment and my favorite ius "Little Miss Crazy" but I dont seem to be able to repeat it.

You need the internet to make Spotify work on your phone, that's why I prefer Amazon music as you can download them to play offline.

I just had a little play around... Yes the controls on the car work, like skip forwards and backwards. Not sure about putting something on repeat yet!

Cheers. Mine used to work but now dont. Maybe it depends on whether I have downloaded the music to my phone.

Yeah just an addendum, I can only work with my car controls on spotify if the music has been downloaded to my phone.

I am still struggling using the Bluetooth connection and Spotify. The volume needs to be set at about twice the level for listening to DAB radio, then when you go to radio, the noise is quite deafening before I can wind the volume down. I also find that if I turn the engine off whilst Spotify is running, (at a filling station, for instance), when I restart, the Bluetooth won't restart properly. There is absolutely nothing in the Owner Handbook about how to use the Bluetooth connection, only instructions on how to set up the link, I shall now do a few tests based on what BruceTheQuali says about the need for downloading, rather than taking music off the internet over the phone network.

1. Stream my favorite radio station via the TuneIn Radio app, when I’m out of range of the FM/HD station, using the car’s 4G and InControl Touch Pro.
2. Plug in my phone, and control it via CarPlay or browse it via ICTP.
3. Play music from a USB stick.

Cheers, downloading the music to the phone improved it, but there were still some glitches and I nearly blew my eardrums out changing source to USB as you mentioned. And you cant transfer spotify tunes to a USB. The naughty ones among us might get the youtube videos and download the songs as MP3's from that to transfer to a USB.
