Default Crossover/Heater Pipe Replacement

Has anyone replaced the crossover pipe with the supercharger in place? I've seen reports of people with an XJ or Land Rover doing it, but I can't find anyone who says it can be done in the XE. Or anyone who says it can't be.

There is a thread on the F-Type forum. The engine is IDENTICAL mechanically. On the thread there is a real debate on this BUT it has been done.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...258775/page28/

When it came time to do my pipes, I elected to have the SC removed. This way the mechanic could fully drain the SC oil before replacing and I took the opportunity to remove the symposer (VAP sells a block off plate).

Good luck!

I know the engine is the same, but I wasn’t sure if the cowl caused problems. Since it’s winter I’m going to have a shop do it, and we’re going to replace all the things, front pipes etc while it’s drained. Good call on the supercharger oil, I’ll add that to the list.

Does the SC snout make any noise? Very common so you may want to remove the SC as OldGuy1 suggested above.
A great time to replace plastic with metal too.

OldGuy1 - could you explain the benefit of removing the "symposer"? Not familiar.

The Symposer ports a bit of engine sound into the cabin.

So as DJS said it ports engine sounds in above a certain RPM level. The benefits in removing the symposer to my mind are:
1) the car sounds more natural when driving.
2) It cleans up the back of the engine removing a bunch of stuff.
3) removes a potential failure point (vacuum leak). Mine actually did at about 65k miles.
Velocity AP sells a blanking plate (in the F-Type list), but you can also get one from LandRover LR025788.

Best of Luck!

Thank you both. I agree with you, OldGuy1. Removing any potential failure points has to be a worthy exercise.
