Day from hell in XE!!! RESOLVED
thismorning started as normal - heading into work at 5AM and about half way there -got a Charging system error battery not charging shortly followed by an Engineoverheating warning.
immediately pulled over and shut her down, popped hood, could see no plumes of steam but fans running in fast speed. Let enginecool down and started her back up - all looks normal so start to head out onlyto get both warnings so immediately pulled over and shut her down.
Called Jaguar Roadside to be directed to contact a localrecovery service due to overwhelming need as a result of snow storms.
Called local tow at 6am - told 30-45 minutes. Greatnow to wait in 30degree temps.
715 still no tow, called to receive recording that personunavailable and mail box full. Started calling other tow companies butnone could be there before noon
Popthe hood and find that the serpentine belt has freed itself?????? Not sure how or why but for Jaguar service toinvestigate
a 9am finally got hold of the first company - owner - hewas pissed I was still waiting will be out ASAP. Well shows up only tofind out he has no tow hook and there is none in my car plus by this timebattery completely dead so can't get in neutral or get parking brakereleased. Guess what he has no jumper cables so calls different towcompany.
this guy shows up, none of his tow hooks fit so he rigs asling underneath car, but we find out by calling dealer that there is atransmission release under engine cover - yeah!!!! but only way torelease parking break is power so he charges battery
Finallyable to get car started and loaded on wrecker but dealer has no loaners ughhhhhh.
Allnot lost as they pay for a rental while they figure out what happened to becontinued

Actually Steve they do not replace the hook in the car as they never use it. The cars (all of them) come with the hooks mounted for transport. During PDI they are removed--that is why the Dealer has a box of them along with other shipping parts that on occasion they return to the factory for reuse. Just go see Baker.

finally got the car back Tuesday evening - they replaced belt, pulley and tensioner just to be safe. Also added a tow eye to the tool kit. Drove her home with no issues but left her parked in garage while I'm away for a few days. Their best guess was the belt stretched but could no real cause for the issue. So I will monitor and pray it doesn't happen again!
