Exhaust - Whimpy
They're a little close but not like the ATS, now those are way too close. I honestly would have liked central exhausts like the V6 F-Type. But from the test videos of it on the ring it sounds good so I think I can get over them being a little too close.
I figure with a little bit of work and putting some different mufflers on the car, you can put the exhaust tips just about anywhere you would want them between where they are there and the edge of the car. The question becomes how much work do you want to do. If you look at the pic that I have, the mufflers extend all the way from the inside edge of the exhaust tips to the edge of the car. I am sure with some looking, a muffler could be found that will position things just like one would want them.
Here is my strong opinion, but don't take offense it is just what I am thinking.... not what I would tell you to your face....actually that is not true I would tell you that
1) The XF has well proportioned tailpipe spread - man exhaust an executive "action" car
2) The ATS/F-Type central exhaust pipes are gay-fruity looking they project a "poseur" is driving the car.
3) The XE pipes are in between. It is weird looking. It is like your playing golf and there is someone wearing denim shorts or calf high socks - you think of crap, well that is the sensation I get looking at this XE exhaust system. It is a "crappy" style that ruins the look of the car. It is similar to the dual exhaust Maxima car, but hold on maybe that is part of the XE design process to appeal to the mass market......mmm no because the price is too high...it is just ugly form - they just poke out as two little holes. Is it appealing to the "desk jockey executive".
While I am on a rant, and should be doing something more useful, the small caps JAGUAR text under the rear emblem annoys me. You know it is a jaguar because of the logo. That is like taking the Apple logo and placing "APPLE" in small caps under it.

The F type v8 quad tail pipe exhaust layout is simply stunning/amazing
I think the E90 BMW 335 tailpipes have the same awkward look and spacing. Anyway, I cannot wait to see the XE here at the dealership in person. I'm already working on the wife to agree to one. I'll take mine in Diesel/6M please.
Probably what the engineers designed in the exhaust flow. Not all four door drivers want an exhaust noise. After all Sir William Lyons designed all cars to be quite a luxury oriented. Only the sports or racing cars were louder.
