Default Gesture Trunk & Ripping Media

Has anyone used the Gesture Trunk feature or try to rip media to the HDD? I can't get either to work and the owners manual is not much help.

and on a side note this is the first modern car I have owned that doesn't have a locking fuel door which I find odd and the mounts and holes are there for it. Anyone can open it and sabotage it or steal gas. I think both my XFs had locking doors so I wonder why it's gone now?

If the car is locked, the fuel door should be too. I am out of the country or I'd test to verify.

I did not know ripping media to the HDD was even an option. Would love to get that going!

I do not have the gesture trunk, but have ICTP and have ripped 900 or so songs from a USB to the hard drive. Pre big ICTP update it worked horribly, bulk import didn't work correctly, but after the update it took me 10 min to rip all that music.

Resurrecting this quiet thread too:

I haven't been able to work the gesture trunk on my R-Sport. I tried the kicking motion where the manual shows the sensors to be, but nothing happened (except for my neighbors wondering why I was outside kicking at the back of my new car). Anyone have tips?

I remember reading about this in the manual when I got the car but figured this may be a country specific option. I checked on my car (2017 R-Sport) and the kicking motion doesn't work nor can I see any sensors under the car.

I also checked the brochure and cannot see any reference to gesture control in the standard features, options or option packages. The only description related to the trunk is the "safety sensing" which I assume is the trunk opening if the trunk closes on your hand (did not test this feature).

I believe the gesture trunk information in the manual is in error

Gesture Trunk is a misprint in the manual.

Ah, I see now that it's a new offering in the 2018 MY...

I guess it goes along with the bit in the manual about being able to change the ambient lighting color. Good to know!

And the no locking gas door, that drives me nuts! I don't remember the last car I have owned not to have a locking gas door. The locking pin is even there for it but no motor for it. Take a look next time closely and you will see what I mean. It is as if they forgot to put it in on the assembly line ,lol.
