Default Getting the wheels home--need advice from the Vets!

My XE is here to stay for a while, I've researched what replacement tyres I want, and decided to get a winter set of tyres and wheels to store.

But how do those of you who are veterans at this COLLECT all your tyres and wheels once you've purchased them?

The XE is a lover's car (so the back seat is for, well.. umm). It's too small to hold four tyres (... or even two tires,... or perhaps you can't even get an 18" tyre through the blessed doorwell).
My interior is Oyster Taurus, and I don't want to think of what will happen if I try using it to transport tyres and rims without a reliable plan.

So, how did you buy your extra rims and get them home?

when I ordered replacement rims/tires for my XK8 - I ordered online and had them delivered straight to my door - no need to worry about transporting

I transport mine to a tire dealer to install each season as they do it so cheaply.
One in the trunk.
Three fit in the back seat, seat back folded down, and passenger seat a bit forward, they will all angle in.
My tires / wheels are the 20"
Everything covered with a cloth or sheet.

Put each tire/wheel into a contractors trash bag when transporting.

Or, even neater than trash bags, try something like these tire tote covers: https://tires.tirerack.com/tires/Tire%20Tote

For me, the trick is the first journey to get this done:

I'll have ordered the rims, and they'll be sitting in my garage.
I'll may be able to order the tires from a favorite shop and have them held there for me to drive in with the loose rims in my trunk/back seat... no problem.

But once the tires are mounted on the new rims, and I have the EXISTING four wheel/tires taken off to swap...
...did you all succeed in getting four assembled 18" min wheels home without putting 50 marks and cuts around your XE interior? Just using the cool (yep, very cool) tire totes or contractor bags?
It's that last phase that scares me to bits!

Is you shop local? If so I'd ask them to drop them back at your house and save the risk to the interior of the car
