Headlight variation and removing the yellow from headlights
Hey guys, new here, recently got a jaguar xe premium and my headlights are the uglier 3 bulbs without the sick LED strip. Not sure which XEs have which headlights..
Anyways hoping for some insight on removing the yellow portion of the corners of the headlights. Really ruins the classy black look of the car.
Anyone done it?
Thanks

I was wrong, on standard models, Jaguar uses horrible Halogen headlights.
I am sure the dealer can exchange them but last time I checked, each headlight retailed for around 500$. Maybe you could find them for cheaper and then have an independent shop replace them for you.
There were a few owners of 2016 XEs on the UK forums, who saw the new Adaptive Xenons, and wanted to upgrade. Jaguar’s answer to them was “no”, and many 3rd party suppliers claimed it can’t be done. I am not sure if that’s because the Adaptive Xenon units have a different draw on the car’s power-management system (the darn headlamp sounds complicated, with extra lamps fitted in the corners, and baffles that move to dampen down the brightness of the xenons, ugh), or because there’s not enough room in the engine bay to fit the transformer for the Xenons---I don’t know. Jaguar is not much on explaining these newest cars.
But the prospects didn’t sound very promising in last year’s versions.
I’ve also seen that Jaguar seems to be leaning AWAY from further Xenon headlamps in these XEs and XFs----they seem to feel full LED is the design to go with, in future headlamps.
I have the adaptable Xenons on my XE, but have also spent a few days in an LED-equipped XF. The Jag-Xenon is shockingly vivid, perfectly-levelled, no-nonsense, illumination---but the Jaguar-LED is the refined, more elegant looking lighting for city streets, without that weird “rows of Christmas dots” you see on other LED cars.
I sense perhaps an “adaptive LED” headlight design in Jaguar’s near future.
I personally would hate that, and I hope I’m wrong about leaving Xenon behind.

Not sure, but I'm betting there is a DOT code requiring them, which means removing them would keep your car from legal inspection.
If, on the other hand, if you'd like to upgrade those headlamps light projection away from the yellow "light spectrum" and into a cooler white, you can easily replace the low beam bulbs yourself to higher output, and whiter light , with these:
Phillips H7 "Extreme Vision" , +100% more light, and whiter spectrum. I did, and was very happy with the results. On sale at Pepboys for $45.00 for the pair.

Personally I chose the Xenons over the modern LED's as I though it was a more 'Classic' look (this is a Jaguar after all), and I dislike the Rice Racer looking LED strips on most cars. It's all personal preference.
There are aftermarket LED strips you can add if you like that look.
(have you seen how Cadalliac has taken LED strips to the extreme? The V front end reminds me of the SUX 6000 commercial in the movie "Robocop". Good god, that front end design really uglies up their $100K CTS-V! https://95octane.com/2016/02/15/2016...-cts-v-review/ , and

Thanks for the detail! How did you figure out which bulb to buy? Can you replace both high beam and daytime running lights? Can you describe installation as there are no YouTube walk throughs? Thanks!
The high beams are different light bulbs I believe this is only for the regular lights

How do these Philips really look during the day? I saw some utube videos and people say they look yellow during the day but whiter at night. Considering these are daylight bulbs in our car I do not see any point in buying them if that is the case and you want that nicer looking white light.
I decided to go with these instead, they are LED and should have white light during the day. Since these are daylight lights in the XE application it should not make any difference if they are not well designed for standard headlight systems. From what people are saying they do not blind the oncoming traffic but that the length of the beam is not as good as standard bulbs..... for this application this does not matter to me as they will only be on during the day.

If you apply coupon code K6QRX9VY your total should be $31.89.
PS. You may not be able to hit this link without login in to Amazon as I shop on Amazon Smile so that Amazon donates to charity on all my purchases. If you prefer you can replace smile with www and you should be able to see the item without the need to login.

I placed em in the position that you access from the wheel well. Are these the daytime lights or do they turn on at night?
Anyways they're only slightly whiter than the stock lights so I definitely would go with something else, I just changed em and haven't gotten to use them at night. Thanks
The H7 bulbs which you purchased are the daylight running lights, they should be on during the day. The night lights have the low and high beam and are H15 bulbs if I am not mistaken but it's in the manual. If it is not H15 then its H13, I do not have my manual handy now and not feel like walking down to the garage to get it.
I am not certain which bulbs are which but if you pulled the external ones that may be wrong, If I recall correctly the H7 daytime lights are in the interior ones. Easiest thing would be to check the bulbs you pulled out, it should say somewhere on them what type they are.

It seems I did change the correct bulb. The H7 Are the outer bulb and are the ones that turn on at night and light up the road.
I would say go with a more blue or white bulb to match the little blue led in the middle.
The new bulb is brighter but just not white enough
Most of everything online talks about the headlights that have the led strip

Totally correct! I replaced my DRL's only, described as "Halogen Low beam" on page 193 of the printed manual, where a installation instruction can be found.
One reason I replaced these is that these were the ones you can access through the wheel well yourself, its a pretty easy change if you pay close attention to the seals and make sure they and the covers are tight.
Sorry for any confusion .
Okay guys so night time low beams are the lateral ones that we've changed with the H7. the daytime running lights are the more central lights. I think they are H12 bulbs but I have no idea how to go about changing them.
Any advice or ideas or guides? Owners manual is useless
