Default Help identifying this lever and cable under the hood.

Hi all,

2018 XE 2.0L diesel - what is the little lever and cable under the engine cover? It appears to run back towards thru firewall then disappears where I can't see it anymore. The lever is broken and the cable is pulled thru a couple of inches. What does this little guy pull?

Thanks! Jimmy

that is to disengage the transmission on a total loss of power and you need to put the car in neutral to move it

Thank you! Do you have a parts diagram reference for the part or what the part is called per Jaguar?

The following link to SNG Barratt's will help you - looks like you have to purchase the whole assembly - lever/cable etc.

Be aware that you need a tool to operate that lever. It should be somewhere around your spare tire area. It clips onto that cable and has a lever to squeeze that will put the transmission into neutral. Be SURE you have this tool in your trunk!

While your version may look different all JLR AWD cars REQUIRE this tool.

Be sure to read the owners manual on how to reset this and put the transmission back into normal mode afterwards.

With the cable pulled out that far is the car in N or can you still drive it?

that's to put your car in neutral if the power goes out
