Default iPhone 8 issue

Hi all,

First post here as I only got my XE today! Apologies if this has been mentioned before, I couldn’t find it and didn't want to add it to the pinned phone thread.

I paired my phone fine but instead of saying 'Spanjab's Phone' or whatever it just says the network ID number. It also hasn’t imported any contacts or the recent calls and hasn’t offered me the option of doing that.

Any ideas? My system is the pro one I believe, the larger screen anyway.

Thanks in advance!

Spanjab

The newer iPhone iOS has higher security on Bluetooth connections

So on the phone (not on the car) go to settings-Bluetooth. Click on the i for info next to the Jag connection. You'll see a check box for 'sync contacts' and some options below it. Put them all on and the phone will then allow the car to pull the info it wants

Thanks for that BritCars, was exactly right!

Now I have an issue as I still favour Waze for traffic avoidance but in my new car I can't work out how to keep the phone speaker on while it is connected to the vehicle! Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

No problem.

On your speaker question, as far as I know that's not possible (but happy to be proved wrong). I believe it has a single sound source so if you connect to the Bluetooth on the car that's where sound goes and the internal speaker won't work

I assume the issue is that you are listening to eg the car radio but still want to hear Waze? If so, my workaround is to use TuneIn radio on iPhone to stream the radio or Spotify to stream music. If you do that, then waze interrupts the music with traffic alerts and directions just fine

Pairing an iPhone in a Jag has always been a royal pain. What does JLR have against iPhones! XE is not my first Jag to be difficult pairing an iPhone.

I’ve got things working kinda satisfactory at present thanks. One thing that I wanted to do though is use my phone as a hotspot as I have an unlimited plan on that to save some data on the in car sim. For some reason it won’t connect though but connects to my home WiFi very easily! Anyone hotspot to their iPhone?

ta!

Michael
