Default Jaguar XE SV Project 8 officially a Showstopper at Goodwood

The FOS is a bucket list thing for me, as the hardware on hand is always crazy. So getting an award like the Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper has to be a huge thing for the team behind the weapons-grade XE, and the company in general. You can read the full story behind the award on the HP, and watch Harry from Harry's Garage give a tour of it below.

Sounds like a bargain for what it takes to make.

Having invested so heavily in the design of the car, why would Jaguar limit its production to only 300 vehicles?

Looking forward for XE SVR.

If it will be around 70K, I might try to upgrade in a couple of years.

M3 starts at 60K so Jaguar will have to price it competitively.

The only worry would be the weight distribution. But as far as I know, V8 5.0SC is not that much heavier than V6 3.0SC

The price for the XE SVR has been reported at $192,000. Way higher than the M3. Then again, much, much more exclusive (only 300 produced for sale throughout the world).

I've read it has 80% different (more advanced) componentry than the "s" version of the mostly aluminum XE, and around $160k-$175k... in pounds.

It's Very very expensive to make, lots of carbon fiber instead of aluminum, latest in ceramic brakes, ceramic bearings, etc...etc...

They had no problems selling the project 7's, and with the 300 signature units the limited production will ensure collectablility IMHO.

When I did the math when first read the price I remember it'd be in the neighborhood of $220K to $250K usd.

Way out of my price range, for sure. But it'd look great sitting next to a real collectors McLaren.

The clincher is.....XE rides four Adults! I've taken rides in the back seat of mine for hours, I am 6.1 and 270 lbs, and was very comfortable back there.

The car above is not just XE SVR but XE SVR Project 8. That is a limited edition model that will sell for 192K

However, Jaguar will sell you "regular" XE SVR for much less than that. I would guess 65K base price and around 80K well equipped.

I have not seen anything about a "regular" XE SVR. Just the Project 8 SVR. At $65K, an SVR would be about the same price as an XE S.

Seems unlikely.

They might not be making much money on it? Limited market? At this point I think it's more marketing than car — at least from a bottom-line standpoint. But that doesn't change how awesome it is one bit.

Any SVR model would sell over 100K. Doesn't make sense to offer that exclusivity for less. Once you bring the prestige down, it's hard to climb back.

A lot of people thought the same for AMG, M and RS cars but I think some brands realized that it is more profitable to have lower margins and higher volume vs higher margins and lower volume.

It is a typical Porsche dilemma. Make 911s and be pure sports car brand or add Cayenne and Macan to the mix for the sake of profitability.

Base M3, RS4, C63 are all in 60-70K range, Alfa QF little higher.

Let's see what Jag will do...

Jaguar already offers an R and S models to meet the consumer "half way" to the SVR...
