Default Newbie with WiFi/phone connection issue

Hi all

I have recently brought just before lockdown a Jaguar XE R-Sport on a 2017/66 plate.

I'm still getting to know how everything works, the car seems to have WiFi but when I looked in the armrest there is no SIM card slot.

My question is I'm worried that the software needs an update as my android phone keeps disconnecting, in the middle of a song or call. Is it possible to update the software through a usb or phone connectivity without going to main dealer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you connecting via Bluetooth or USB? If via USB, use a charger in the cigarette lighter rather than one of the two USB ports in the armrest. They are useful for syncing but not as steady for phone or music.

Hi thanks for coming back to me.
It seems to drop the connection on usb as well as Bluetooth. Also I only have 1 usb port inside the armrest, where is the other one located?
Can't find any sim card slot too ☹️

I found that plugging a usb cord into either of the supplied usb ports was the cause of Bluetooth disconnects. The solution was to instead plug the usb cord into a dc charger in the cigarette lighter.

Ok thanks that makes sense, still not sure what is wrong with mine I've read some reports that Android phones have pairing issues with the earlier jaguar software versions.

Does anyone know where the sim card slot?
Also is it possible to update your own Jaguar software or does it have to go to main dealer?

On my 2017 xe the sim card is in the armrest very near the two usb slots.

Hi, thanks for the reply yeah mine doesn't seem to have one but I can't understand why I have a hotspot name and it asks me to insert a sim card.
It's almost like they added the option but didn't change the ports in the armrest.

My US MY18 brochure says that WiFi hotspot is an option with the 8” InControl Touch system - perhaps you don’t have that option?
