oil filter location
I have a 2017 XE 2 liter gasoline 25t USA model. I wanted to change the oil but ran into conflicting information. I read that I can use a vacuum pump and suck out the oil through the dip stick but than someone else wrote that it must be drained from the bottom. The oil filter is supposed to be on the top of the motor under the engine cover in a canister but it look like I am seeing a spin on filter at the bottom of the car. I might be able to get to it from the top.
Can someone direct me to the correct information. The oil change prices around here stat at $100 to the dealer high of $250. OMG
Thank you all

Yes, you can do both top or bottom drain when changing oil. On top drain you need an oil fluid extractor which cost $50 or more. I do mine the traditional way (bottom drain) of changing oil but it's time consuming. Top drain only takes less than 30 minutes or maybe 20 minutes. Your car is a 25T (4 cylinder) Ingenium engine, The oil filter cartridge is on the top of the engine.

These photos are showing what I believe is the oil cooler and under that is a white spin on purolator filter. This located on the bottom left side of the car not to far away from the steering knuckle. There is plenty of space up top on the right side of the motor but it is not there. Must have something to do with this being a USA car.
But thanks for the validation that I can drain suck it out from the top.
I think the filter location depends upon whether you have a Ford Ecoboost engine or the later Jaguar Ingenium engine.
Jaguar switched during 2017 to the newer engine, so you could have either, depending on when it was built.
If there's no nearby Jag dealer a Ford dealer would be able to tell you if it's an Ecoboost motor.

It must be an ecoboost. I found a photo of just a motor on eBay for my model year and it clearly has the filter on the bottom. And every time I look up an oil filter it comes up as a spin on and not a cartridge. The part I dislike is now I will probably have to take it to a service center. I am not one for sliding around on the floor and jack stands etc…
thank you.
thank you.
