Power Off on the Task Bar
The 2018 XE I had as a loaner had a nav screen power off button on the task bar. On my '17, I have to click through a few buttons to shut off the screen. Is this an software update or am I SOL on having the one touch power off button?
LOL, yes, you and I are SOL.
The Screen Off in the 2017 was really set up with the mindset that there are times when the driver wants to turn off his "entire cabin" brightworks at night, and concentrate solely on the classic driving-gloves, steering wheel, and the road.
It not only kills the screen, it dims your instrument cluster, and drops the intensity of every mood light around you.
I like that idea, but it's only set up to give you that option during night-driving, and won't obey you if you touch that button during daylight driving.
The 2018 version has a whole different mindset about that button, and when I got the 2018 loaner, I could not tell if is geared toward the mood lighting and instrument cluster too (my loaner wasn't equipped with the mood lighting package). So I'm not sure it's about "getting back to classic driving" or if it's just about giving you a break from those ICT pictures.
I con't think it's simply a software update.
Do you drive in classic "screen off" mode frequently, Mosesbotbol?

How do you turn on stealth mode? I have. 2017 xe with the ictp. Thanks.
Yes at night I often shut the Nav screen off as it's pretty bright and doesn't go into a satisfactory night mode as easily as previous Jaguar models. Jaguar must've realized this was needed to make that power off key so easy to access in new iterations on the XE. It's so much more pleasant in the car at dark when the screen if off IMO.
My F-type has a hardware button to turn off the screen. Seeing if updated F-type with a bigger screen and no buttons has this feature will be deciding factor in determining if I am going to trade in or stay with my current car.
Unless I need GPS, which is rare, I always turn off the screen on my car.

To turn screen off on the Pro, tap the cog, tap the power symbol in the window that opened. Screensaver will appear, default is Jaguar logo. I changed mine to a picture of an XE. Press the power symbol in lower corner and this with stealth mode turns everything off and dims all interior lights.
Just tap screen again to bring it all back on.
