When I started this tread months ago, I was just hoping to get android auto to make my driving so much more convenient. Since that time, Jaguar has added voice commands to it's own navigation that sort of narrowed the need for Android Auto. I am so pleased to have android auto on my Jag XE!! On a trip last weekend,into Nevada from California. I discovered that it now uses the full screen as well. I have my android device set for wide screen in developers section that helped some, but this now utilizes 100% of the screen real estate with the menu vertical on the left and additional information/control for media on the right when navigating.
One other comment, I had a chance to drive a new Mercedes for five hours in another state. Yes it had android auto, but NO TOUCH Screen. Imagine having to navigate the android auto app with a dial and one button. GRR! Another reason I am so so happy I have a Jag!

I just bought a Jaguar XE 2017 35T AWD supercharged.
Just a quick question ,it doesn't have Android auto and apple car play in it?
Can I just go to Jaguar service and ask for the upgrade..?
I was told that if you went in and asked for an upgrade they would charge, but that if you go in complaining of something not working and the update would fix it then no charge. Now I have the no love shown ICT. I got an upgrade but it doesn't have CarPlay and Android Auto, but somethings are more responsive than before. My phone would frequently drop out before the update so that was what I used to get them to come in and perform the update. Since then, I've lost HD Radio which was present before. It doesn't appear the ICT units will get Software Over the Air either, so I may have to lose another whole day at the dealer to fix that.
Just had my 2018 XE with ICTP upgraded to CarPlay (and Android Auto.) I was quoted $220, but because they had to update the software (and possibly because they like me ), they didn't charge me. Car was in for 1 year scheduled maintenance.
I haven't played much with CarPlay yet, other than to confirm it works.

I don't have HUD, but I do not get the screen display in the instrument panel like the built-in navigation. I suspect the HUD will be the same.
