Default USB + Android = which one you use that works ok ? want to buy an Android phone !

Hi there,

I'm wondering if any of you use an Android phone ( LG G3, Samsung S / Note variety , Sony xPeria's, etc ) with the USB Port on your Jaguar and it plays music.

I've been using my iPhone 6 for this, works like a charm but since iOS9 update, it stopped working. There have been a few updates on iOS9 ( 9,01,9,02,9,021, etc ) and none fixed this.

Did reset the phone, paid Jaguar to reset the whole system and re-install it fresh, nothing works.

So...... Android it is !

Which Android phone you guys use ( preferable with Spotify downloaded songs ) that works via USB on your Jaguar XJ infotaiment ?

Default Go Bluetooth

Goncalo,

Why connect your music through USB? Doesn't your 2014 have Bluetooth music connectivity? Have you tried connecting the music on your iPhone via Bluetooth?

I listen to the music on my Samsung Galaxy S3 via Bluetooth in my 2013 XJ and set the phone to shuffle so I never know what will play next. If I don't like that song, I use the controller on the left side of the steering wheel to go to the next song. That controller also adjusts the volume. The song title and artist display on my touchscreen.

If your XJ didn't come from the factory with Bluetooth music connectivity, you might be able to do so with one of the Tune2Air adapters that Amazon sells. Here's the link to the WMA1000 model:
Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Automotive Amazon.com: ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 - Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Adapter for Car Audio Integration: Automotive
I'm not sure if the WMA1000 is the best model for the XJ.

See this thread from the XF forum for more information: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...dapter-100119/

I agree w/ Stuart S. Why do USB when you can connect w/ Bluetooth.
Now, I just got an iPhone 6s Plus last Thursday and on Monday was my first time attempting to pair it with the Portfolio. It took about 20 minutes and was frustrating but the phone is now paired w/ the Jaguar.

I wrote my previous post before reading Goncalo's earlier thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...broken-151099/

Both his USB and Bluetooth connectivity appear to be broken on his iPhone.

I would find someone who has the identical iPhone and see if it will connect to Goncalo's XJ and play music through both USB and Bluetooth. If it works, then the problem is with Goncalo's phone. Could be hardware, software conflicts, or both. Try a reboot - turn off the phone, wait a minute, and turn it back on. Then reconnect Bluetooth and see if it works and then do the same for USB. If that doesn't work, I'd buy a new phone.

I use a Galaxy Note 3 (Bluetooth only, I hate wires) but am on the outs with Samsung - their new versions of Android are just way too bloated. I went from 2 days of battery life on Kitkat to a few hours with Lollipop and they've opted not to release any more updates for my (2 year old) phone. Going to try a custom ROM this weekend, if it doesn't work I'm done.

If none of your IPhone fixes work, check out the Nexus 6P, it's pretty widely heralded as the best new phone on the market.

bear in mind two things :

1 - got finally my iPod to work with the Jaguar ( see other thread )

2 - on a side note, couldnt get any Android phone ( tried Nexus, Note 2, 3 and 4, also Xperia from Sony ) to work via USB ( they work bluetooth , just not via usb ) .

I also do not like cables and prefer wireless almost all the time, except music - I have the Meridian sound and you really can hear the difference on the same music from Bluettoth vs USB ... more so if you use something like TIDAL HIFI
