Default Will Jaguar Support factory ECU Upgrades? Would you pay $595 for 40-80 more HP?

Greetings Everyone.

I've ordered the XE 3.5t, which puts out 340HP stock. Jaguar has launched the F-Pace "S" with the same engine and mechanicals, but with a 380HP tune on the same engine. That's 40 more horsepower that is certified by Jaguar for Emissions and Factory Warranty purposes.

I've initiated discussions with Jaguar Corporate to see if they will take the aftermarket tuning road lead by AMG, Shelby, Polestar, and Ford Racing, and make this better tune available to customers that currently have the 340HP variant..

For instance, of you own a ford "Ecoboost" engine, Ford has a manufacturer- supported ecu flash upgrade program. For $595.00 you can take your ecoboost equipped ford ST into your dealer, and drive out with 90 more horsepower than before....while not voiding warranties.

Ford offers factory engine ECU upgrades for all EcoBoost-equipped cars - egmCarTech - egmCarTech

I'm asking Jaguar to make such a program available to at least the XE 3.0l S/C platform shared by the XE/XF/ and F-pace, where the more advanced 380Hp tune has been Jaguar tested and warranty approved. I'd like to prove there is a lot of demand for such a service, from the factory directly.

(My apologies to aftermarket tuners...an officially supported program like this, if approved, may erode some sales. But I'm sure the factory tune will still be relatively conservative).

If you would like to see an official ECU flash program (like Ford's above) made available for Jaguar owners, please show your support and engine class in this thread (diesel/petrol). If we get lot of plus 1's here, I can refer the Jaguar Corporate contact I am working with to this thread for justification to his upper management. Thank you.

At $600 I would do it if extended to '13 XF 3.0L. But I have a feeling Jaguar would charge two to five times that in which case I'm out.

At $600 I would do that too. Cheaper than an aftermarket tuner for sure.

I was thinking about the same exact thing. It is very disappointing that XE 35t is not offered with 380HP variant of the V6.

It might be that the Jaguar will offer tuned V6 in US Spec XE S (380-420HP) to fight with the M3 and others. Or they might choose the V8 5.0 SC instead

Anyways, it would be great if they offer ECU Tune for current XE owners.

$600 for 40 hp....maybe not, you can get aftermarket to gain the same amount for cheaper

$600 for 80 hp, yes for sure!

Default For a "Factory Approved" tune

carzaddict, my intention is to tune the car WITHIN Jaguar's already marketed parameters, as to not break my warranty with Jaguar.
I'm very aware that with a couple of pulley changes and a tune you can get 100Hp more out of these engines safely, but that WOULD exceed Jaguar's marketed specs and would push the engine's performance past Jaguar's tested limits. Then they would have good reason to deny any warranty claims on the engine pushed past manufacturer established limits.

I would definitely pay-I mod all my cars lol.

Hopefully tuning comes our way, especially State-side, since all the stuff I find online is for other countries.

Cont me in! My previuos cars where a 2014 and a 2012 Audi S4 that I had ECU tuned. It does make a difference. Would be great to keep the car within the factory warranty. Nice effort on the conversation with Jaguar.

Would be a good bone to throw the dealers. Charge the dealer $200, the dealer flashes for $600; $400 easy profit.

I just ordered my 17' XE -RS and should have it this week. I used ECUTG before on both my XFR's and had great gains and plan to use them again.

I spoke to Jags and he said " Your V6 SC makes 340hp stock and we can bring it to the 380hp mark if you like or you can go big again and we can tune/pulley and give you another 65hp to give you a total of 445hp." It won't cheap at $1,500 fore the package but like last time he said it is undetectable by the dealers and won't void anything. He will also provide 2 more refreshes if the dealer overwrites the tune for when they do updates.

I can tell you that I had both my XFR's in for lots of warranty work and they re flashed my ECU and never said a word many times over.

This is the route I want to go again unless you guys can suggest some other worthy tunes?

Hmm, $1500 for 105hp really isn't bad at all.

Who is this through?

I wouldn't mind paying $1,500 to get up to 345HP.

I would go this route if I were able to uninstall my tune and sell it someone else. I lease this XE, so the tune would be money out the door. They'd sell a lot more of their tunes if this was an option; even if they charge $300 to "move the tune to another car" it's worth it.

This topic has come up so many times with ECTG and they won't budge, He mentioned that the tune is married to the VIN and would rather just keep this process.

I do feel that there is many other options out there for tuning but for the 2010-current Jags I think hands down ECTG is the way to go. For other cars I probably wouldn't use them as there are better solutions by far but no one can can even come close to ETCG for the Jaguars.

That is why I would go with the exhaust before the tune. I can re-install the OEM at lease end and sell the exhaust for 60% the cost (if not more). Even if I owned the car and wanted to trade in or sell; we know aftermarket parts do little if anything to increase value, so the option of selling my tune like the exhaust is a benefit.

Even if it were tied to the VIN, the ECU could be flashed and a "discounted" tune could be applied to the VIN it is replacing.

I get it from their perspective and maybe the additional sales is not worth the administrative effort?

If you buy another car they discount the second tune but not by much. Return customers get a discount for additional cars.

I'd happily pay $595 for a warranty approved tune of 40 HP
