Default Winter Wheels/tires

I have a 2017 XE 3.5 R -Sport,(RWD),with the 20” wheels and I’m looking for a winter wheel and tire set-up.

I prefer to get 18- inchers. I want stock OEM wheels.

Will they fit?

I searched and couldn’t find definitive answers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If it helps at all, my 2017 XE R-Sport came with stock 19” wheels and tires. 18” wouldn’t be that great a stretch (or shrink).

What does your local dealership say? Will 18" fit? I wish there were a guide to which XF wheels if any fit correct on the XE. Plenty of XF wheels out there to make a snow wheel set. XE wheels are still at a premium.

Yes, definitely 18” wheels will fit. I have run 2 winters with the 18” Star 5 spoke wheels as shown in the Jaguar accessory brochure on my 2017 RSport. There are 4 different 18” wheels shown in the brochure. Summers I run the 20” Propellers.

Thanks for the input,Gentlemen.

RB44, NO ONE needs winter tires more than you do,that's for sure. Is the snow melted yet up there? :-)

The east coast is no picnic either.

Illinois is like Florida compared to where you guys are at.

UPDATE- I was poking around on the bay and according to the fitment guide, certain Land Rover and Jaguar SUV wheels will fit.

Prange, let me know how it goes. Last year I tried to get winter 18s on my 2017 XE 3.5t R-Sport (which is otherwise on 19" black venoms) but the rims I'd gotten didn't fit over the brake calipers. Plus I needed to go to tire with higher load range because of the car weight requirements in the rear (she has a heavy a**!?). I ended up returning the 18s and went with 19" Nokian Hakkepellittas that I love - a little pricey but totally worth it. Was worried about the width but they are great in snow.

PS - I should have done what RB44 did, but I didn't want to buy the Jag rims... I probably ended up paying more for that dumb decision.

I'm looking for OEM only. That pretty much alleviates the fitment problems.

The best winter tires,(for snow only) that I've had were the Pirelli Scorpions. They were incredible in the snow, very squishy in the dry. I wouldn't buy them again.

I've had Michelins,Goodyears,and Conti's.

The Michelins and Conti's have an excellent balance for snow/dry conditions. I have the Conti's now on my car.

The Goodyears were great for snow acceleration and turning. However, they wouldn't stop very well. They're very much like conventional tires in the dry.

I've heard good things about the Nokians. I usually get my tires at The Tire Rack and they don't carry them.

Thanks for the input.

PS: Our storms in Illinois must seem like a mere dusting compared to the East Coast.

oemvehicle parts.com has 17” OEM wheels for as little as $369 ea new or 18” 6 spoke wheels for $434 each. I saw a full set of 19” 15 spoke silver wheels for under $700 for all four on EBay a couple months ago but they’re probably gone now. You could always do aftermarket for much less. I really like MRR Design and they have some really nice designs for under $300 a wheel. The 19’s I want are the same cost as OEM though but I want them for simmer instead of winter. My OEM 18” Templar 5 spokes are perfect for winter and drove better than any car or truck I’ve ever had here in MN but 35t is AWD.

chrisburns61,

Those do look great. I have the 20" Propellers for summer.

I'm almost sure I've decided on the OEM 18" Templar for winter. I've seen them for $249.00 each,(refinished).

Since I'm using them for winter, the less spokes, nooks, and crannies for the salt to collect in,the better.

Which winter tire do you favor?
