Default XE All keys lost, cheapest fix??

I bought a Jaguar XE 2017 in auction with no keys.

I've read about the need to unlock the KVM to before adding keys, but many of the prorammers seem to cost a fortune

I've managed to locate a brand new kvm as well as a couple of new smart keys

Now I have all new equipment, can anyone suggest the most suitable key programmer to buy in order to program the new keys/kvm

thanks in advance for any tips

Hate to be that guy...but what did the dealer say? IMO, if you were just trying to program new keys then maybe third party (maybe still dealer), but since you have a new module with matching keys, seems to me that the dealership would adapt that hardware to the car...

I have not been to dealer yet as car is in my yard and am awaiting title from copart,.

I have the JLR SDD Software and new module but canot get the SDD ro read the VIN, its greyed out. Someone said that the ignition has to be on to read the vin, but how can ignition be on with no keys? (SDD can supposedly program KVM module and transponders)

Not sure if its a problem with my software or interface or car ignition

can someone help shed light if the igntion has to be on to read anything via SDD? If so is there a workaround to get to the porogramming state

thanks in advance

vin could be read even if ign is off. If not - check your interface cable.

SOLVED!!

After rebooting software I managed to get it working,.I was worried that it would not program as youy cannot turn ignition on as it ask you to at many stages.

For other with similar situation (all keys lost) I solved it with the following

I purchased a VCI SE interface that came with patched JLR SDD software

I removed old KVM and installed brand new one, I also purchased 2 keys from ebay $60 each

After some faffing abouit getting the software going I went into special functions and asked it to program new KVM

It told me it had problem with network connect and do I wish to download manyally using USB, I said YES

I downloaded 4 files to usb and then it reprogrammed the KVM, every time it asked me turn ignition on or off I just clicked CONTINUE as I had no abvility to do that

After programming the KVM it asked for 2 new keys, I added them oner at a time and then it verified they worked fine

All finished I now have 2 working keys for the car

Hope this helps someone if they have similar problems

Thanks for the advice

@tferrari hasn't been here since April 2021. I've tagged them here which might send them an email or something, but you might be better off starting a new thread in the F-Type section

What would be the cheapest route to getting a spare key for my XE? It came with 1 key on purchase, but I would definitely like to have a spare.
