I bought a new 2015 FX (Portfolio) about two weeks ago.

So far, I love everything about it but thus far have been surprised by the low gas mileage....about 14 miles per gallon. Granted, the bulk of my driving has been non-highway but I still would have expected the MPG to be better. Is it just because the car is new and not yet broken in?

My V8 SC averages 15-16 mpg but I drive it in dynamic and pretty hard. I can get 26 mpg on highway on steady cruising,

I am now at least averaging over 15 with limited highway driving so maybe it's just part of the engine break-in process.




By the way, obviously it should say "XF" in my original post. I don't know whether it self corrected to FX or if I had some sort of dyslexic moment, but I noticed it and couldn't figure out how to edit my post.

 

Just an fyi. This section is for the 2016 XF. You want to post to the XF and XFR section. Overall I am very pleased with my gas mileage considering mine is 470 hp, supercharged. I use Fastrac, non-ethonal premium, which seems to get better mileage and performance but I don't have solid data, just my impression. Your mileage should improve with mileage driven. Congrats on the car. What color combo did you get?

 

I have a 2013 AWD and I typically average 20-21mpg in mixed driving. The best I ever saw, and I calculated by hand was when I drove to Memphis and it was around 700 miles, mostly highway speeds around 75 and I got 31mpg, that to me was a very nice surprise since it's rated at 26mpg. But as with any car, "your mileage may vary."
