Hi all, purchased my xf sport in April driven 10k miles(up to 52k miles on clock) and after my first service the engine now starts clicking/ tapping around the 1500/2000 rpm when accelerating. I’ve brought it back to the garage who said it’s a barring somewhere but for them to fix it could cost 5k with replacing stripping the engine , changing the head gasket, chain etc. engine oil full and I don’t drive it hard so don’t know what to do

 

They also said it shouldn’t cause an issue long term and not to jump at the repair yet

 

It’s a horrible irritating noise as it’s not loud but I can hear it

I don't see your model year but US Jags are dealer warranted till 60k miles or 5 years..
If still covered, start with them as they have Topix to diagnose it proprietarily.
