Default tuning box & exhaust for XF S?

Hi. I'm located in the US and have a 2016 XF S. While I love my car, I can't help but feel a little jealous when Mustangs or Challengers rumble through the neighborhood with their firebreathing V8s. The XF is fairly quiet so I'm interested in upgrading a bit. One of my friends who is really into cars suggested 2 things:

1. Having a Borla exhaust system welded onto my car
2. Obtaining a tuning box or taking it somewhere to have it tuned.

I wanted to hear from others that have had this done as to what it costs, what's involved, your overall experience, stuff like that. The main reasons for doing this is to get a little rumble out of my car. My friend said it can definitely be done. I am NOT interested in cheap or simple exhaust solutions. There are Nissans and older Supras in the bad part of town that have these oversized "fart tips" that make a ridiculous "WAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" sound. I'm also interested in more horsepower. My friend said there was quite a bit of unlocked potential in having a super charged V6. If you think I'll be wasting my time or money please let me know that too. Advice is much appreciated.

XE 35t owner here-- without a doubt if you want to be running with those V8's you can get a crank pulley & tune from VAP. I have had my XE tuned since Dec 2019 (~13K miles) and haven't had a single issue. You can expect around 450hp/430tq.

Sound:
A resonator delete is recommended for a bit more raspy, aggressive sound; it is also relatively cheap. $200 max depending on the muffle shop.
I have the VAP Sport Exhaust and it is louder, with a deeper tone, and the pops/crackles sound amazing. Tips look much nicer, too.

Depending on how you like supercharger whine, you can go with a cone filter kit like Mina Gallery's. This will make the whine VERY loud. It'll make the Challenger owner a little jealous you sound more like a Hellcat than he does 😁

Thanks for the basic breakdown @CSL, well summarized

Does anyone make a heatshield kit for running open filters to reduce hot air pull.

I just added a QuikSilver Exhaust to my 2018 SportBrake last week, it's no HellCat as far as rumble but it's pretty nice, much better than stock. I ordered from EuroToys and took one week to get here from the UK.
Here's a great review on IG from an XF S owner, 6 videos from all the different modes. This is what convinced me to get the QuikSilver. If you're on FaceBook join the Jaguar XF N. America group, lots of discussions on there about Tuning and Exhaust.

The Mina Gallery kit comes with heat shields.
