Default XF S/C Exhaust Tips

Hello,

I have been considering the Varex system mentioned here for a while.

I do like the sturdy, proven design of their products as they virtually have no rattle. They also sell replacement actuators in case they break down, (not too hard considering the winter we've just had).

The versatility of having a quiet cat most of the time and just changing it's attitude on the fly is what appeals to me.

Now here is my question. Has anyone found or fitted aftermarket exhaust tips to their XF? and if so can anyone point me to these options?

The only thing stopping me from plunging in head first is finding the right Tips.

I don't want to destroy the original exhaust just in case I need to bring my XF back to stock.

I have seen that the Flowmaster Tips #15390 and #15389 have a slanted design that makes them suitable for any car with a curved back but I am not sure they will work on an XF though.

Thanks

Tony.

If you are meaning literally just the exhaust tips, I seem to remember seeing some of the Mina galleries tips on ebay (not the whole muffler kit, just the tips). You could look there and see?

Exactly, I'm looking for the exhaust tips literally.

BTW, I have read in some forums that the Varex system can actually make some cars quieter and that is a plus for me since pretty much 98% of the time I will be in full silenced mode anyways. This cosmetic upgrade is aimed at the 2% of the time I drive in full sport mode with traction control off where I really don't care how loud the car will sound.

I've got the Varex system on my XFR. Absolutely love them! I have video up on YouTube, but of course it's difficult to get a real feel for the sound through crappy video.

In closed (street) mode, the exhaust is about the same volume as the stock XFR system. You can actually hear a slight hiss from the back under hard acceleration, which is kind of neat on its own.

Valves open is a full sport exhaust. Deep throaty growl at idle and enraged howl at WOT. Popping under decel takes a bit to get used to.

I had them posted up here earlier, but had them moved on me, but I have my stock XFR exhaust available for sale if anyone is interested. They include the stock XFR tips, of course. If anyone is interested, just let me know.

So FastCat2011, what's your setup? and what tips did you use?

I for one will go with a pair of VMK10-250's installed pretty much where the axle-back stock mufflers go and controlled from one VK02 dual control unit.

It would be great to see a picture of the exhaust tips you have on your XFR.

Tony.

I have a thread on here somewhere that included a Youtube Video link, but here are the photos of the system right after I had it installed.

I ran with twin mufflers in the stock location. Tips were sourced by the install shop and I never did get a part number or manufacturer on them, unfortunately. They're very high quality and emulate the stock tips really well.

Default Thanks

Thank You very much FastCat2011,

I guess I will roam some local muffler shops to see if I can find suitable exhaust tips then.

Tony.
