Past few weeks have noticed on occasion (seems unpredictable) the car *almost* starts when the START button pushed, but then quits. After 2-3 more attempts, it starts as expected. Kinda like a lawnmower (not a compliment).

Have tried depressing the brake pedal more firmly; have tried ensuring driver's side door fully closed/engaged before starting; have tried fastening seatbelt prior to starting. No set pattern.

Anybody else experience anything similar?

 

And yes, have also tried holding down the START button longer...

 

I wrote about this awhile back. You only touch the start button very briefly when holding down the brake pedal and it will start by its programmed sequence. I had the same problem and found that if you hold the start button for more than perhaps less than a second the vehicle will shut off immediately after almost starting. Mine did it three times in a row and I thought there was something wrong. But no, just the wrong touch.

 

Aha - makes sense, the circuit is probably thinking I'm trying to 'STOP' again by holding the button down. Thanks for the advice!
