Default 09 XF n/a dead after new battery!

Good afternoon! I picked up a 2009 Jaguar XF the other day that was already dead. Probably not desirable to some being dead, but this car was too sexy to let sit. Previous owner said he had to jump start it, then went and got a new battery, changed it, drove it and 3 hours later the car was completely dead. The only thing that is working is the power windows, power seats and the steering column adjustment. That's it. No lights on dash, no interior lights, nothing. Key fob is stuck in the lower left pocket and will not eject.

He already removed the battery when I got it, so I purchased a brand new battery that met oem specs. Verified it was charged, installed it, nothing. I started troubleshooting. All the fuseable links are good, all fuses are good from what I can tell.

Someone else told me the ECU was easily fried if you jump start incorrectly. I replaced the ECU with another one, but still nothing. I didn't have the new ECU programmed, but I thought it would at least power up the car a bit more than what it is currently doing, if that was the problem.

I'm about 2 hours from any Jag shop. I called one that was 2 hours away and he didn't sound too optimistic on the phone.

Has this happened to anyone else? Anything I can do to troubleshoot? I can't get my scanner to communicate through the OBD2 port either.

Shaun

Do you know the correct jump start procedure on the car? Did the seller tell you how he did it? This might at least point in the right direction for help.

Yes, I know, but I don't think he did....lol. Pretty sure he just went positive to positive and negative to negative..... directly to the batteries.
