Idk where I got this O2 socket but it's real handy because it lets you use a 3/8 drive, 1 in socket or 1 in crows foot (That in turn lets you, with an extension turn an object 180° counter to the tool) This is a must have for the flange mounted upper O2 sensors.

This ground needs to be disconnected and moved out of the way.

The other PITA, the upper O2 sensor connector.

To disconnect to o2 sensor, this connector needs to be flipped, but it has to be removed from it's mount, to do this pry the up on the tab with the rectangle (That's the lock) and slide the connector to the front of the car. then flip it over and press in the locking tab to release it. A long flat screwdriver is what I used to do both.
Remove the lower 2 sensors first to give you more room to access the upper 2 sensors,
You will break the plastic wire guide clips, but they can be had on Amazon. The install is basically the reverse of the removal.
A NOTE ON THE O2 SENSOR REPLACEMENT.
THE SERVICE MANUAL IS WRONG! THERE ARE 2 PHYSICALLY DIFFERENT UP STREAM AND DOWN STREAM O2 SENSORS FOR EACH BANK OF THE V8 ENGINES, (Actually 2 are mounted in the cats and 2 are mounted in the exhaust manifold) REFER TO ANY DEALERS ONLINE PARTS GUIDE FOR THE CORRECT LOCATION OF THE O2 SENSORS IF IN DOUBT (The parts image does show the physical difference and correct o2 locations). OR IF YOUR CARS SENSORS HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED JUST REPLACE LIKE O2 SENSORS IN THE SAME RESPECTIVE LOCATIONS.

Also, you introduce the substance slowly into the system, you don't "dump a glass of water into the intake".

I believe the SeaFoam guys are having an aerosol can as well, but I could be mistaken.

I didn't say I agreed with their concerns, just tried to expand on what I thought they were.

Just throwing my two cents in...I've used the same intake cleaner as Bigg Will twice now and it is perfectly safe for supercharged engines, if done correctly.

On a side note, I had 1 of the 2 mass air sensors go out at 104kmi. I just replaced them both and would definitely add them to the list of consumables to be replaced at 100kmi.

Great thread Will, Seeing these type of threads give me comfort in keeping this car a long time. How do you like the TT Iridiums? I just bought those. I was thinking of having them cryo treated. I have heard they work 2x better and last even longer. I just got under my car and saw a few boots splitting and was wondering how am I going to get these things in urethane? Boom I see this thread. I was looking at Powerflex has most of the big bushings for the suspension, https://www.powerflexusa.com/shop/ca...x250-2008-1474 and it would be nice to get some custom arms and linkages with adjustability.

Where did you get the vaccum pump seal? I missed it if you posted it.

Side note my mechanic Jaguar Doctor said he saw a couple of XF's with over 300K miles! Thats amazing they are lasting with those kinds of miles...

What's the process for getting the drive belt off and on?

I've just reached the 105K service interval and its a recommended replacement.

The parts seem inexpensive, but a bit of a faff to get on/off, the workshop manual doesn't really seem to go into it.

Actually the service manual goes into belt removal with great detail, and I've posted some tips in my pulley servicing thread posted 2 days ago.

Hey @Bigg Will , this a great thread, even if it is a few years old. I know it has been a few years since you replaced the ball joint boots, but I wonder if you can recall the dimensions or product number of the boot you used for the rear upper arms? Also, how did the Prothane boots used on the front upper arms hold up? Txs

Nice job! I just hit 150k miles on my 2010 XF Supercharged 5.0, haven’t really had any major issues
