Default 20" Nevis Wheel Replacement?

Hi Guys,

As experienced by many these Nevis wheels are very fragile. I had two of them straightened last year. I've been dealing with slight vibration issues of varying degrees since buying my 2011 XFR and have come to the realization these rims are not going to work. Every time my tires are changed I have balancing issues , wobbling steering around 40Mph and slight vibration that's noticeable in the seats and steering wheel. I thought it might be the tires but just looking at one of the rims leads me to believe it's not round and likely bent again.

Does anyone have suggestions for a quality replacement rim without breaking the bank. I'm reading 20" forged seems to be the way to go as someone with an xfr-s mentioned he's been through this before and his new wheels have been solid for the last 2.5 years with no issues however they are likely way more than I'm willing to spend. Just looking for people who have changed over to something less fragile and have been satisfied with their purchase.

Thanks...

I've had my 20" staggered Coventry Whitley Hypersilver rims on for 24 months and 24,000 km now, on crappy pothole infested Adelaide roads, and not a hint of any damage other than the odd bit of gutter rash. As an added bonus the offset on the rear rims brings them out about an inch more than the Nevis, so the edge of the tyre sits flush with the fender without the need for spacers.

Thanks Injekter. I'm really trying to find something that can take more punishment. The roads around my place are pretty crazy. Not so much the potholes but the uneven pavement seems to add just enough force to slightly bend the oem wheels over time.
This is the reason I've decided to look for a new after market wheel. More out of necessity than wanting to switch over.

I'm liking those wheels a lot. Did you get them locally?

I got them from a Sydney Australia supplier, but they were initially imported by them from the US I think. It's not real clear exactly where they are made, but the Coventry Wheels home page is US based, see here: Jaguar Wheels by Coventry. Custom X-type wheels, S-Type wheels, XF wheels, XJ wheels, XK wheels
Which means there will be a number of US suppliers and you could possibly get a set postage free.

Edit - scratch that last bit, I forgot you are in Qld!
I hunted around all over the world for someone who would sell me these rims, I tried three different US suppliers but none of them got back to me, and I eventually found a Sydney supplier, TSW Alloy Wheels. Freight from Sydney to Adelaide was $100.

They'd deliver free to Queensland! Bonus!
Hehe. I'll do a bit of a Google for them.
Were they outragiously expensive compared to the US price?

A bit of research shows Coventrys are made by TSW- originally a Seth Efrican company.

See above, my edit crossed with your post.
The Oz price was a bit more than the US price, fair enough when you consider the import cost. They cost me $500 AU each, although on the final invoice they bumped the freight cost from $50 to $100 and reduced the cost per wheel down to $487.50. That was April 2014 so maybe a little more now.

Thanks mate. Just checked them. $505 for 19" and $545 for 20s delivered. Not bad for what looks a quality wheel.

I bought a set off ebay.

With that said I did get an extended wheel/tire warranty which has come in handy and paid for itself 2x over. Currently all 4 wheels are being repaired under extended warranty

I had a similar issue. Replaced my Selena wheels with a set of Rohana RF2 in 20 inch staggered. Likewise they sit slightly further out at the rear which can looks great. Mine are for my summer tyres - had them about a year and very pleased

I've been careful and so far no issues at all. Cost around $1700 all in.
