Default 2009 XF 4.2 S/C Differential

Hey guys,

I recently was in an accident, I was rear ended and the car has started to leak differential fluid.

The impact didn't seem too bad, the Mercedes that rear ended me took heavy damage, my Jagaur got screw divits into its bumper and a tone of scuffs, also broke the bracket that holds the bumper.

Now the leak is coming from the left CV shaft from the diff, the seal was replaced and now and in a matter of days it smelled again, and now the shaft is moving up and down.

It seems im stuck with rebuilding the diff, or finding a replacement, my vin ends in r13824. It seems I can't use 2010 diffs and I definitely can't find any from a 2009.

Insurance is a scam up here, they want me to only use their body shop and they don't have any mechanics there that can actually do repairs other then body work.

You may be stuck with a problem that can't be solved. Search the forum, there are threads about problems with early XF differentials. From what I remembered the entire rear axle had to be replaced. Unfortunately, Jaguar ran out of replacement parts years ago, there is no fix for this problem, replacement seals begin leaking immediately.
Good luck

Isn't it covered by their insurance? Have the dealer / their mechanics work it out. You shouldn't have to solve it.

Sadly, I agree. Hopefully, your insurance company will be willing to fight for you, but the only option may wind up being that they "total out" your car, and hand you a check, with the instruction to buy another car.....NOT that makes you very happy, especially if you really liked the car you had (up until the time of the crash).
