Default 2009 XF headliner sagging

First the dash bubbling and now the headliner is sagging. I was quoted $540. Anyone ever replace the headliner?

Never had the headliner replaced in a Jag. Had two other cars (Fords) done by an upholstery shop nearby for $AUD150 each, so $540 seems a bit high.

Not an issue I've seen on here before. Although I remember they are hard to refit as some people had to remove them for sunroof access.

Seems a bit expensive but not crazy to be honest. Depends what's really needed I guess. Is it just a reinstall?

What material? My XF has that optional suede material and I'm sure it'd be much more expensive. But yes, I have a local upholstery shop nearby that does them for $200-$300 in standard headliner material. They have two or three sample cards with maybe a dozen shades each and its just a woven cloth with foam backing (its generally the foam itself that deteriorates so you can't just re-glue the original material). Had the XJ8 Sovereign done some years back and it matches the sunvisors pretty close (I can tell if I stare at it, but no passenger has ever noticed) and just this last spring had them do a 2007 Honda and its also a pretty close match (the real Honda part was going to be like $550 plus probably another $100+ for shipping due to the size, plus some risk it might not arrive intact). For a perfect match or if its suede material, then you can certainly expect a higher cost. I've also glued a few myself, but after finding this local shop, I decided the DIY route wasn't worth the miniscule cost savings and they seem to do a better job. Be aware tho that you car will smell like glue for probably three or four weeks. Some people find the smell rather obnoxious which is something to consider if you've got a serial complainer in the household. You could ask to have them glue it and then just not reinstall it till the smell subsides (i.e. drive around without the headliner for a while). I just leave the windows down while parked in the garage to help the gasses escape. Don't do it like right before a long road trip.

Thank you Phil. Can you share that shop with me? I'm in DFW sometimes.

The shop I went to said they needed to take it down scrape off the old foam and reapply new material. The online reviews are good for the shop but the sales lady has a sketchy vibe. Maybe she is recovering addict or something so I shouldn't speak badly about her.

My 09 XF headliner is sagging in the rear as well. I called a couple of local shops and a few of them said they had to remove the windshield in order to get the headliner out. I've never herd of this before. Anyone else was told there windshield had to come off?

Not according to the Workshop Manual ----it shows the headliner coming out of the rear left side door. I have no personal experience though!!

There is an element of risk having the headliner board snap or get otherwise damaged/cause damage while shoving it through the door, they don't want it. Find another shop.

Default Had it done to 2 XFRs

unfortunately in my experience I had 2x both 2011 XFRs that had to have the headliner replaced. Both started sagging in rear. My XKRS. Never an issue. I guess the 4doors. There is..

Yes. I have a 2017 (Prestige!) that has a sagging rear headliner. It will be repaired by Jaguar under warranty when they can find a new headliner. Evidently there isn't one in the US, so they have ordered one from the UK. Covid had shutdown several of their warehouses in the US. I was told they will have to remove the windscreen to do it.
