Default 2009 xf n/a V8 start button not responding dead cluster

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read. I have a 2009 xf n/a V8. I am currently having no response from the start button I have had the gear selector and starter module sent away and reassembled to make sure it is all working correctly however I am still having no response from the start button when I unlock and open the door the radio and lights everything goes come on as normal but my cluster is dead and the start button is not responsive at all. I have disconnected the battery and left it for an hour and reconnected when I do this the start button flashes as normal when it senses the key but still does not respond when pressed. The only issue I've had with this in the past was sometimes the start button would take a few presses before you would engage and start never have I had it that the ignition does not even bring up the dash if anyone can please advise or help this would be greatly appreciated

Rule out the simple stuff first.
Do the brake lights come on when you step on the brake pedal when starting?
What is the resting battery voltage after the car has sat all night? You want to see 12.6 or higher.

If these are working then next step is to scan the car with Jaguar's SDD system to see what you can find.

Even if the battery is brand new, check it’s voltage anyway
it may have been sitting on a shelf for months

This is my first Jag. Just picked it up 2 days ago from auction. It didn't have a battery. Insurance company totaled it for water damage. Lights, horn, interior light, radio ect work. Just absolutely nothing responds when i hit start/stop button. I already have the console out that the button is attached to. Just don't know how to get the button out.

OK BIG change! Yes a junk flooded car from an auction will come with many, many problems. That's why it was totaled and sent down the road. So you need to approach this as a badly damaged car and you may NOT be able to get it fixed.

What is your budget to get this back on the road? Is this a flip of some kind?
Have you worked on flooded cars before?
The problems will never end. Even if you fix it now all that moisture will continue to work on everything it touched. So problems will continue to show up with time.
Do you know if it was fresh or salt water?

Yeah. I was going to flip it. Budget is maybe 2 grand. Never worked on a flooded car before. Everything is working in the car, just getting nothing when I press the start button. Horn, light(interior and exterior) etc is all working. I verified windows by opening with key fob and i closed them holding the lock button on dashboard. Again, just no response from dash when i press the start button. Tried putting key in dock and it says check smart key.....But car IS recognizing the fob to at least unlock doors, roll down windows, alarm, lights.
