Angry 2009 XF stuck in park

This is the third time this has happened to me, the first time the car went to a Jag dealer and they could not find a problem. I have had the car (2009 XF) for four months and on three occasions I start the engine and the gear shift won't come out of park, the second time it fixed itself after several attempts to start the car. This morning I switched the car off four times and tried but no, it's still stuck in park. I must be getting a signal from the brake pedal as the brake lights are working but somewhere along the line the transmission is not seeing that signal and releasing the shift control.
Anyone else ever suffered from this and what was the fix?

This was a known fault on the 2009 XFs - see this thread here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-park-142488/

I'm surprised yours wasn't already replaced if the gear shift module does have a faulty PCB - you may need to get a code reader on it, although I'm assuming the dealer would've run the codes when it went in the first time.

The thread above mentions a TSB but I couldn't find one specific to this issue in my collection.

Don't know if this will help but it does concern the transmission rotary switch problems?
But as always without codes we are all just guessing. Can you tell the dealer to give you the error codes they found? Maybe they were lazy and did not hook up the SDD?

Follow the thread davetibbs posted as there is a manual bypass to release the shifter if the rotary shifter is not working. Real handy to know especially if you are getting towed because of the shifter problem.
Let us know how you fixed it too!

Happened to me, replaced the rotary, it was not that. Took it to the jag independent, they decided it was the valve body. It was rebuilt and it was good after that.
