2009 xf trans question
Guys and gals...I recently purchased my 2009 XF and I am still learning the vehicle. I'm not looking for problems, but just trying to educate myself. So far we love the car and the way it drives and handles. It's quite a bit different than our s type 3.0. Much tighter and sportier is the way I would put it. But got a question on the trans. There is no fluid leak at all under the car, but I have noticed that on the first drive of the day, the trans seems to shift a bit quicker and harder between low gears than it does after warming a bit. Hard to describe, but there us a difference between cold start and fully warmed. Is this anything that i should be concerned about, or does it sound normal?
I had been driving a 96 4.0l petrol XJ6 for the last few years and changed over to a 09 XF 3.0l Diesel two months ago. I'm loving the new car and I have noticed many differences in driving/ performance etc. One such difference is the fact that during cold starts, in cold weather, which we have had plenty of here in Ireland recently, the gear shift does seem to be ever so slightly, but distinctly slower or more sluggish in the XF than it was in the older XJ.
It's only slightly noticeable and lasts just for a minute or two. I suspect that it's quite normal and I mightn't have even noticed it, except that I would be constantly doing mental comparisons between the two cars.
