Default 2010 Prem Limiter

I've had a 2010 Premium N/A for about two months now. I have been very good witn ot excessively speeding i got caught not too long ago and between the tickets and points it made rethink pushing cars to the limit.

Well the other night i decided to see how fast it can go it has 180 on the dash but the dam thing wouldnt go past 130. I'm like the WTF my last car goes faster.

Are all XF's like that? Is there a limiter or something? Most importantly how do i get it to go faster!!?!!

Computer tune would get rid of the fuel cut off at 130mph.

If you look at the specifications for the 2010 XF Premium (The XF Collection brochure 2010) they say the top speed is 121 mph and is limited. Hence your observation is in line with their specifications.

My 2010 XF Premium is also equipped with All Season tires (19" Artura wheels) which are only specified up to 122 mph. max.

I am assuming that yours is the same and hence the limited top speed, the supplied rims and tires match the speed limit.

I am guessing you will need to work on the engine management and change the tire ratings by replacing the factory tires before you can exceed the manufacturers preset speed limit.

I think the 2011 XFR is limited to 165 mph.

US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require that the vehicle not allow speeds in excess of the speed rating of the tires installed from the factory.
With some makes, they will limit to the speed of the tires actually fitted (based on option packages), like Jaguar.
Others will limit all vehicles based on the lowest speed rating of available tires, and ignore upgraded tires (so they only have to manage one speed limit profile).

Yes, if the speed rating of the tires is only H then limiting your speed to 210 km/hr is mandatory for safety and not just for other road users!

Yes, my 2010 XF Prem also cut out at around 124. If it makes you feel any better, I recently drove a 2010 911 Carrera that cut out at 140. Andrew
