Default 2010 xf engine swap compatibility

I had the unfortunate news from the local dealer that my 5.0 has a cracked piston! Bore scope image and all. Now that i have processed all the irrational thoughts... Looking for any opinions on a replacement engine,, My gut tells me to go with the ford coyote and 6r80 trans,, ford modular engines are very reliable and can take a beating.

Thats the number 1 no noise or anything just started loping at an intersection had a misfire code.

Good luck with that! I hope you are super handy and basically an automotive engineer and fabricator, because nothing will be easy along the way.

Default Im qualified

Yes im well qualified but not rich. A stand alone management system would allow me to leave the jag modules in place effectively keeping most of the features in the car active. fuel delivery is a minor obstacle. Really i cant see spending thousands of dollars on the jag engine that is basically a throw away design. 14k gets a complete motor and trans with the harness and modules another. Where as the jag motor well we know what that costs

Yeah, but $14K gets you another 2010 XF in perfect working order without doing any work and the risk of an engine swap, and the lack of any resale value.

Just because it happened to you doesn't mean they all crack pistons. In fact, that's the first one I have heard of.

Just change the plastic cooling pipes on the new XF, and you'll be fine. Sell yours for parts. You'll come out way ahead without the headaches. It won't be a direct bolt in and there's a 90% chance you'll abandon the project and end up with a $14K engine on the floor and an XF in pieces in your garage for years to come.
