Default 2010 XFR - Capristo exhaust valves

I took a 2013 F-Type V8 for a testdrive while my 2010 XFR was in the shop for maintenance. That exhaust note is really something, popping/crackling on decel and between upshifts.

Loving it but not all the time. When I'm out with the family on a nice roadtrip, I like the quiet cruise note but when I'm alone and have some tunnels ahead...

So I'm looking into putting manually controlled exhaust valves just before the rear cans. One on the leftside and one on the rightside, controlled with a single remote. Most of the exhaust sounds will bypass the rear cans and flow out freely.

I've seen Capristo making these valves available also as a kit for generic use.

1. Anyone have experience with this kind of a setup?
2. I think placing the valves more towards the rear-end of the car makes exhaust sound more natural (coming from the back) or is it better to place them closer to the engine?
3. Would placing a x-pipe be beneficial to performance in this case (the valves in full-open-mode would make it more towards a full open exhaust) ?

I'm looking to getting as close to the F-Type R V8 sound as possible.

Well, first post after being signed up for a good year and a half, a belated welcome to the forum for you.

I don't have any experience with these exhaust systems, hopefully someone who does will be along shortly.

I guess one way to do it would be to get your hands on the original F-Type R exhaust and cut/shut it to fit the XF...but that wouldn't be a cheap exercise...

Some members here have experimented successfully with the Varex active exhaust on their XFRs. I don't think it's a cheap route either but supposed to sound really good and it's remote controllable. Do a quick forum search and you should be able to dig up more info

There are also cutouts that others have done. Sounds like what you are looking for.

Yes, I've found the Varex and heard some good stuff about it. The difficulty is getting the units here. No distributor within the country and for that kind of money I really would like to hear it live first. (don't think youtube videos sound is very good)

@cambo351 , ah yes, where are my manners. Well, fixed -> here
