Two days ago I got a check engine light while turning the corner onto my block, other than the light nothing else changed - drivability was fine. Got the car into the garage and got the scan tool out, which showed a p2404 and p2406 codes for evap leak. Since this is the first time seeing it, I cleared it to see if it was an electrical gremlin.
Unfortunately not.
Two drives later (apparently it needs two full drive cycles to detect an issue) the light came back on with a historic p2451 code as well saying the valve is closed.
There seems to be very little information on the forms regarding these codes and the subsequent fix. I have seen some people mention just replacing the pump and cannister...but to do that you need to drop the entire rear of the car to get to it. 🥲
Has anyone seen this before? What's the cause and is there an easier fix than dropping the rear of the car (just had a rear wheel bearing done and it was a PITA even at the garage)?
Thanks for any info!
