Default 2012 XF New Tires = New Tire Pressure Monitors?

I will need to replace the current original 6 year old tires. Would this be the right time to replace all of the original tire pressure monitors?

I've read all of the issues using aftermarket sensors so I will purchase OEM. Does anyone know of an online source that offers a discount?

Does the spare have a sensor?

Why replace a part that still works? You can reuse the original ones and just have the replaceable seals and exterior parts replaced to keep them holding air good.

It will not cost you any more or less replacing them when you install new tires or when one actually fails. The car will tell you if there is a problem, until then, drive it.

Spare tire (space saver style) does not have a sensor.

I had the wheels on my XK refurbished in January. Tyres and pressure sensors had to be removed for the work.

Took the opportunity to replace two rear tyres but had the four original pressure sensors refitted. Absolutely no reason to replace them unless or until they fail.

Three months later and no issues or pressure loss.

I just downsized from the 19" Caravelas to the 18" Velas. I had read all the same posts, but decided to just keep the originals till they quit. I've got other cars with original TPMS sensors still going well over ten years. But if you are changing wheels and transferring the TPMS, DO check with your tire shop before your appointment that they have the correct stem rebuild kits in stock. Apparently its not uncommon but not universal either. I sat around a tire shop for nearly half a Saturday while we waited for one of the guys to go to another tire store and pick up the parts.

If they are the original 6 year old sensors I'd change them. You have to dismount and remount the tires and rebalance to change the sensors. And more than likely will have to do that within the life of the new tire. So I would just do it for the convenience factor
But you could get lucky and get another year or two out of them...

I second that. Whenever I replaced tires on a car, I also replaced TPMS monitors on each wheel (each has a battery that lasts about 6 years or so). However, I would suggest you make sure the tire shop uses Jaguar/Land Rover monitors as for some reason that is not known, you will get fault messages if you use a non-JLR monitor (ask me how I know this). The JLR monitors are expensive, however.

In my case, I swap when needed. I only had to change one original TPMS and that was because the shop broke the old one, and stripped the nuts, damaged the rim..... teach me for trying to save money. Another story...

I expect the other 3 to go but they have been holding out very well and the car is a 2010.

Always good to replace the TPMS sensors after 5 years. I can guarantee that you will be getting TPMS warnings within the next year. 315 Mhz version. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=362&jsn=362 are perfectly fine.

After reading this thread I'm seeing replacement TPMS being sold with 2 frequencies: 315zMHz / 433MHz.
Which is the correct frequency for our cars? Or are the sensors in the wheel wells dual frequency?

You're welcome.. It's always great to get after market products which work. Too bad you can't get too many other parts though.

I hear ya. At least on my '12 there are a bunch of fomoco parts once I can figure out the part numbers I saved a ton.

315mhz is US market frequency; 433mhz is European market frequency. Same as remotes.

Hi,

Is this aftermarket TPMS sensor still holding up for you? I am searching for an aftermarket TPMS sensor for my 2010 XF Premium.

Yes the aftermarket part is working fine. I replace them whenever I get new tires. The battery has a lifetime of 5 years. But to make sure I always just buy new ones when I have to change the tires.

How long have you had it now? I've read that aftermarket TPMS sensors can be very problematic.
