Default 2013 or 2014 XFR-S?

In the VIN, I guess there's a letter sequence that indicates the model year of the car. The VIN of my new XFR-S indicates it's a 2013 model. The dealer was initially confused but finally seemed to think it was indeed a 2013. But I thought all the XFR-S's were 2014? A minor issue, but one that still perplexes me a little.

That's strange as I also thought they were all 2014s.

BTW, welcome aboard and do we get to see some pictures of your XF-RS? I think you are the first one with on the forum.

Thanks Todd!

I love it in that color, never seen one in white. Many miles of happy and healthy driving.

Will try to copy those into the Official Picture thread to keep the trend going.

I think I heard some body say that they all are 2014 but the VIN can indicate it is a 2013 if it was some of the first batches made in the beginning as they have to follow guidelines when producing/stamping VIN tags on every car. A good example was my similar problem on my 94 Supra. It was the 4th gen redesigned supra but my VIN showed 93.5 and it being a non turbo 3rd gen supra which looked nothing like mine so getting part from the parts department was tricky as I had to use a VIN from a 95 or late model 94 model to get the right parts. And my car was #2 off the assembly line.

Well thanks. As soon as it gets done with its minor upgrades in Nashville this week I will post more pics. I always liked the white Jaaaaaags as homage to the "whiteness" present in the racing XJRs. Hence why I sought out white. This one does not have the big rear wing either, also which I liked.

Will post those too soon. It's the charcoal gray interior. Red piping in seats and dash. The sidebars and roof are a grey suede. There's carbon fiber detailing on the dash too. This is the configuration, hope it works:Build your XF - FULL DETAILS

Gorgeous car! I hadn't seen one in white, either, but I'm definitely digging it (clearly, I'm a little biased). Congrats!!!

I'm jealous. I ordered the exact same car, incl. carbon fiber detail (minus wing - can't tell if you got it or not) about 4 weeks ago but I'm told I'll have to wait until ~November. Do you know which # of the 100 you got? I think there were only two left when I ordered mine (or the salesman made that up to make me buy...). I have a 2010 XF now, so very curious to see the difference. What are your early impressions driving it?

No wing. I don't know the number of the car; how do I tell? I found this one at Park Place Plano Jaguar. The car certainly is pretty rare.

My impression driving it so far is very, very good. I am comparing it to my 09 C63 AMG. First off, rather striking the driving characteristics in the dynamic+sport mode versus not. It's a hairdresser's car in the non-sport/dynamic mode! The gear changes are great. The engine responds nicely. Handling and cornering seems a bit better than the C63 (which does have the LSD). I think the C63 might "hunker down" a bit more in the 130+ mph range, although this is subtle. The ride quality is better in the Jag in terms of comfort; this can be a downfall or a compliment depending on your viewpoint. I would love to drag a C63 vs the XFR-S. I think the XFR-S would edge it out. The C63 is a smaller car in weight and length, less cabin room, but I think its seats are a bit more "racing" and again, this is good or bad depending on your viewpoint. The view of the road may be slightly more preferable in a C63. The Jag interior is obviously more lux, but the Merc nav+electronics are a bit more user friendly I think.

When I'm going 90 in the C63, it feels like it. In the Jag, speed is very deceiving. The road/engine noise is less at higher speeds in the Jag. Perhaps it's the 8-speed in the Jag vs the 7-speed in the C63.

The stock 825W Meridian system in the XFR-S is the best I've ever heard in any car. The bluetooth and USB audio options work well.

So which car am I driving more? Right now, the Jag. It is more fun overall--I don't know why. I have had my heart set on this car a long time though.

Really nice Jag you have there. Congrats.

I had a good experience at Park Place Ft. Worth when I picked up my XKR-S.

There are a few youtube videos of XFR's going at it with C63's...Some even of Bigcat's 600hp XFR. Search around and you will see a few races.

Does the XFR-S come with the Adaptive Cruise Control as standard?

I have the ACC in my XFR. It requires a different lower front grill as there's a plate that is part of the ACC and replaces the grill pattern. The front actually looks better without it although the ACC has saved me a couple of times.

Hey scarbrtj,
Its funny that you posted your new XFR-s, Congrates on the new ride BTW.. I was just comparing the XFR-s to my new R. I thing your R-s is outstanding. I really curious what the difference are other then software and alittle more carbon fiber added ons.. I wish we had one in this area so I could check it out. Also, I had the same issue with the Vin. My vin on my old SC read 09 but it was a 2010 model year. I think that when its built, the vins are being ran off the previous model year.. Go Figure.

I just picked up my XFR-S in early August. I am told by the dealer that Jaguar had originally planed to only sell as 2014 model year but later decided to sell 100 as 2013 and 100 as 2014 in USA.

My XFR-S (French racing blue, black wheels and trim, and carbon fiber interior) is registered as a 2014 but the VIN and compliance decals indicate 2013 model year.
