Default 2013 RWD XF S 3.0 SC Differential Oil

Hi all,

Here goes a question to which the answer I have not been able to find anywhere, without absolute doubt.

There are all kinds of opinions that it should be the 75w90 or the 75w140 and it also depends if its the electronic Diff or not (whatever that is???)

I've tried searching with my VIN number (SAJAA0783D8S97478) no luck.

I want to do a full oil/fluid swap, so I've ordered the ZF filter/pan and fluid Kit for the transmission, the ACDelco Supercharger oil and now I need the Differential oil, but which one to get???

Any help will be appreciated here. Thanks.

No idea...
Can I somehow get that info from the VIN? It's a Rear Wheel Drive only, does that help?

I work in Finland and the car is in Portugal (home), so there's no way for me to check now.

OK, I just saw "Cambo's" post regarding Diff's.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...ntials-134733/

Note that the XJ from V58603 and XF from S61362 has a new version E-Diff with 2.56:1 ratio in conjunction with the 8-speed transmission but does not appear to be Gen4 as per the F-Type.

Taking into account mine is
S97478, it seems from that post, it's a Gen4 E-Diff.

OK, so here goes the solution from all the investigation I've done, for anyone out there still with doubts.

For my 2013 XF S 3.0 SC RWD Differential:

BOT 720
- Castrol C2D3650 (Jaguar)

- Castrol LR019727 (Land Rover)

Because these are hard to find (in Portugal) and are quite expensive (to import), the next best thing to replace these is:

Red Line Oil 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil
https://www.redlineoil.com/75w90-gl-5-gear-oil
Already contains additional friction modifiers just like the original (BOT 720), so no need for additives.

Another alternative to the Castrol BOT720 is Motul Gear 300 LS, see here: https://www.motul.com/au/en/products/gear-300-ls-75w90.
Several F-Type owners with either the V8 (eDiff) or the V6S (mechanical LSD) have used it with good results and no problems. Not recommended for the "base" F-Type V6 though as that has an open diff not an LSD and the 300 LS is specifically for LSD (hence the LS).
I had my diff fluid replaced a month ago using this gear (excuse the terrible pun!) and zero problems so far.
I bought it because from all reports it is fully compatible with Castrol BOT720, the Castrol is 100% Unobtainium here in Oz, and the Redline is hard to source while the Motul was easy to source.

Thanks OzXFR,

That helps to add to the list and give everyone thinking of doing this, more options.
