Default 2013 XF SC - Coolant cross over pipes

just been told I need to have my 2013 XF supercharged coolant cross over pipes replaced. Got a quote of $2,250. is this reasonable? The pipes will appear to retail for a few hundred dollars.. it must be a labour intensive repair.

Get a quote to have all the plastic pipes replaced and your intake valves cleaned. It's a false economy to just replace them as they leak. You can check parts.com to see what all pipes are in your car and what they cost.

There are DIY threads on here, including mine for the N/A 5.0L engine. It's in the category of a "massive" job taking around 2 days to do everything carefully, but no where near as massive as an engine removal.

quite reasonable for all the labor involved. it requires intake, throttle body, misc hoses and harnesses, charge cooler, intake wings and s/c removal. will have to have wipers removed and all panels under to get to harness and such on rear of s/c. as lotus says, do the intake valve cleaning while it's opened up and as much of the other plastic as possible at same time. there's a crossover in the way back for sure, but also a plastic hose that connects to heater core if i remember correctly and a long approx. 3/8'' tube that goes up under the s/c to the throttle body area. all impossible to justify accessing "next time" if you can just do now.. might as well service the s/c - new oil , any bearings - all depending on your mileage. there's a few great writeups on the forum with lots of pics

or trade me your 2013 for my 2010 with ll that already done for you and more.lol
