Default aftermarket paddles?

I have a '13 XFR, and I'm curious if there are any aftermarket options to replace the plastic, light, cheap-feeling paddles with something heavier and better feeling in your hand. Not sure if the F-Type paddles are metal, but the orange paddles at least look cool.

What would be ideal would be either metal or carbon fiber paddles that are slightly longer than the OEM paddles. Something like this, but for an XFR:
CarbonioDirect.com | Ferrari 430 Challenge Shift Paddles

Doubt this exists given such a small market, and i'm guessing your average XF owner isn't taking their car to road course tracks too often, but it would improve the feel of shifting.

Funny, the paddles and the turn signal indicator stalk are the only two pieces on my car that really feel cheap. I would be interested in actual metal or carbon fiber paddle shifter overlay "snap ons"...I am not sure you could replace that piece easily. I would venture to guess others would be interested too. Maybe someone who is enterprising on here and good with (and has access to) a CNC machine could pop out a few prototypes and sell them to the community

By the way, you might want to check out this thread, as some of the XK guys modified ebay parts and experimented around with the paddles. I am halfway through it now:

EDIT: From that thread....oohhh I like:

Kind of pricey at $250 for two tiny pieces of CF though

Especially since they don't "replace" the original. I guess I don't understand the value of "gluing" the CF onto the original, if indeed they are "plastic". Maybe I'll wait until mine break!

Are XK and XF paddles identical/compatible? If so, looks like the Evoque aluminum paddles people are putting on their XKs in that thread are a possibility.

In that thread it looks like the F-Type paddles worked as well, but I don't know size-wise if they are any bigger than the OEM XF paddles. They certainly look cooler but they are plastic as well. Like was said, some guys were replacing the paddles with RR metal paddles which would seem to fit the bill...but at almost $500? I don't think I like them that much.

Anyone thought about ordering a set of these and then modifying/cutting down or adding a plate to our stock ones to fit the adhesive portion?

That's what this guy did. They even look like the same ones. He explains how to, seems pretty easy.

Funny...that's where I got the idea! Then I found these with the Audi section and it looked like it might not be too hard to fuse the two.

Exige...Would love to see the results.

Jaguar now offers OEM polished aluminum paddle upgrades. Go to the XF Accessories area of the website and download the catalog. There is a pic on page 19. Here is the description and part # from the brochure:

For two pieces of cast and polished metal? WTH?

(no worse, I guess, than a set of rear shocks for a Lotus Europa (spax) that cost, as a pair, 550, when replacement front struts from Monroe for an Olds van are 100.)
