Default Aftermarket Warranty Recommendations?

I was hoping to get a little advice on a good aftermarket warranty provider for my 2011 XF S/C. The car has 29,000 miles on it and the warranty is getting ready to expire on the 28th. Through looking at other posts I see that some have obtained an extended jaguar warranty while other purchased aftermarket warranties. I am specifically looking for reviews of specific warranties and the estimated cost. My dealership recommended a Motorist Assistance Plan 60 mo/60K mile warranty for $4,398 which seems a little steep to me. Thanks in advance for any replies.

That warranty is extremely inexpensive for the term. That's coming from someone who has been in F&I for the past 11 years also. The best companies I have worked with for claims payout however are Mercury, Allstate, and Warranty Solutions. You couldn't go wrong with those guys but you won't find that cost for a comprehensive plan.

Whether you buy from Jaguar or aftermarket, it isn't really a warranty. It is an insurance policy. Exactly what is covered and what isn't can vary from one company to the next. You can't expect coverage to mimic the original factory warranty.

We just had a discussion about this on the X150 site, but I can't locate it quickly. Some of us were not thrilled by what they did not cover. Some felt that the car owner was not being treated fairly.

What it comes down to is reading the details of the policy to understand what is covered and what is not. That is the only way you can truly decide if you are getting your money's worth.

Make sure you ONLY buy an Exclusionary Policy. It will state items that are not covered. So if it's not on the list it's covered.

Exclusionary warranties are more expensive but cover almost the same as factory warranty

>Make sure you ONLY buy an Exclusionary Policy.

Also, you want a warranty that pays the repair shop directly!!!!!!!!!!

Also, get any generic terms clearly defined such as "Trim Elements"...just had US Warranty Corp deny my claim for broken sunshade block and retention sunshade because warranty co says that the parts are trim elements

I had a warranty on my 2010 XFR with Carchex

https://www.carchex.com

They allow you to pay over 24 months for a three year policy for example and you can cancel at any time in that if you sell the car or don't want the policy anymore. In my case they paid for engine and transmission mounts without an issue. They have a $100 deductible on the policy I had per "visit" rather than line item. So I got the transmission AND engine mounts fixed. They pay the shop directly by company credit card and it doesn't have to be a franchised dealer but they have to be an "authorised" shop - in other words routinely doing business as a motor repair. You can't have your brother in law bill them out of his garage at the weekend ;-)

YMMV but check them out.

I purchased mine from the dealer and I believe it's through Allied. It was the Jaguar branded option. I hear they are tough to deal with from the dealership perspective, but I've never had anything denied, nor have I had to pay a deductible at the dealer. Got 7 yrs up to 100k for under $4k. Call different dealers and see what you can find. You don't need to be local to purchase.
