Hi, when I was checking underneath my 2011 5.0 n/a recently, I noticed water pooling in the heat shield to the right side of the transmission, as in the attached photo. The water was crystal clear, it wasn't splashed up from the road. I believe the air conditioner drain is somewhere around that location, maybe above the transmission. Anyway, I bent the heat shield down to allow the water to escape, which revealed that where the heat shield had been in contact with the underbody, rust has started to form. This leads me to two questions. First, is the air conditioner drain somehow out of location, or is that normal for the water to drain there? Second, how should I proceed to halt the rust? Thanks for your advice.
The aircon condensate does drain through the floor above the transmission, I posted a picture recently of the inside of the car with the dash and console removed- look at post #9 in this thread, red circle https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-area-280556/
nasty that it's being held against the body, a focus for rust even in a car that's always garaged and never driven in the rain. I'm going to have a look at my car with a view to drilling a drain hole in the heat shield. I'm no expert on arresting corrosion but perhaps some rust-convert primer.
